El Pedral Gourmet Coffee is a family business with a long tradition of producing excellent coffee in the mountains of Colombia.  Our coffee is grown in the volcanic soil of mountain slopes overlooking the El Pedral River.  Alfonso Ruiz began this family tradition almost 50 years ago with a vision typical of hard-working Colombians – grow the world’s best coffee.

Based on the professional cupping taste by our roaster, tasting notes for El Pedral Gourmet Coffee are Sweet, intensely scented, medium acidity, and sharp aroma.

Top quality coffee has been produced on La Milagrosa farm for two generations of the Ruiz Family.  La Milagrosa sits under the Peaks of Citara, in the southwest corner of the state of Antioquia, Colombia, a coffee growing zone of tradition and excellence. El Pedral village borders mountains which are rich in abundant native vegetation, fauna and flora. These mountain slopes are the most recent volcanic formations of the Andes Mountain Range.  El Pedral River is ranked as one of the cleanest rivers in Colombia, and is protected and preserved as a special river basin.

Sr. Alfonso Ruiz started growing coffee next to the Pedral River near the town of Betania to take advantage of the pure high quality waters, the special and uniform temperature and humidity conditions, the right combination of annual sunshine and rain, and the natural wealth of the soils which are the byproduct of volcanic ashes.

This coffee growing tradition has been preserved and improved by the Ruiz family through time, offering today a coffee having a softness, taste and aroma of its own that reflects the purity of the river's waters, the richness of the mountains and the special conditions of the climate.
